Deuteronomy 30:19-20

…I have set before you life and death, blessing and curse. Therefore, choose life that you and your descendants may live, loving Yahweh, listening to his voice, and being one with Him…

When given the choice between good and evil, life and death, blessings and curse — the choice is seemingly simple. Of course we would choose the good over evil. Of course we would choose to live than to die. Of course we want to receive blessings, not curse. But why is it that our lives today don’t seem to reflect these choices? Instead of doing good, we do evil things that hurt us and the people around us by cheating, lying, and taking advantage of others. Instead of celebrating the life we’ve been given and making the most of what’s given to us, we are merely existing, trying to get by, and walking as if we’re a living dead.

We should have been waking up in the morning, looking forward to God’s abundant blessings that He has in store for us, yet we grudgingly get out of bed, not looking forward to the day. And when we feel discouraged and alone because of what’s happening in our lives, we ask God, “Why”. At times, we even blame Him for giving us this lot. What we fail to remember is that God has given us the freedom to choose — how we respond to situations, how we perceive things, how to live our lives. Friend, the choices are set before you: life or death, blessings or curse, good or evil. God gave you the power to choose. Choose wisely. Choose to live a life with God.

~ Praying For ~

Father God, thank you for blessing us with a free will. Thank you for giving us the freedom to choose how to live our lives. Lord, I ask for your guidance that I may always choose to do good things. Help me Lord to see the beauty that is around me. Open my eyes and heart that I may see the many blessings, big or small, that come my way. May I always have a grateful heart that I may celebrate the life you have blessed me with and make the most of what I’ve been given. All for your greater glory, Amen!

~ I choose life. I choose blessings. I choose goodness. ~
